Ah.... a rainy, gloomy, quiet Friday afternoon.

(man, i want a nap!)

More "magic" and "miracles" happening...

Tuesday, July 27th was our 13th wedding anniversary. I took the day off from work and we were going to enjoy the day at the Grizzlies game, after sleeping late of course! Well, it took us FOREVER to leave town and Bryan even commented that someone didn't want us to get to the game. We thought we had tons of time though since the games don't start until 7:05.

...or so we thought...

We drove around and ended up searching for the "Our Lady of the Snows" shrine. I don't mean to offend anyone, but we were expecting a little 'hole in the wall' concrete shrine with a plaque. We were AMAZED to find our what the shrine really is! There is a hotel, restaurant, statues and tons of walking and reflection trails. It was amazing! Their website is www.snows.org. From what I have learned so far there is over 200acres and it is the largest national shrine. Over one million people visit annually. Bryan and I believe we were meant to find it.

By the time we made it to the ball park, it was 4pm...plenty of time before the game.

Uh...what are all these people doing here...why are they all leaving?

THE GAME WAS AT 12:05 AND WAS OVER BY THE TIME WE GOT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So......................

We went to the mall and to "Build-a-Bear". I made the World Wildlife Federations lion which I named "Aragorn". (get it? Aragorn? King? King of the Jungle?) Bryan made a beagle and named his Skyler II. We got home much earlier than we planned. We usually get home around midnight, but we were home about 7:00.

Now here comes the real MAGIC part....Skyler had another seizure at about 9:00. If we weren't home, we couldn't have taken him to the vet.

Thank you, God for changing the game time! Skyler is way way way too precious to me to allow him to suffer one second! God knows my heart and he knows what Sky-boy means to me (and to Bryan and the girls too)

Now...another MAGIC moment~~~ we decide the medicine that we administered was not helping him, so I go call the vet knowing it would mean an emergency fee. The vet and the entire staff were STILL IN THE OFFICE at 9:30 at night!!! So we took Skyler to the vet and discussed upping his medicine etc.... Again, this would not happen on a normal day. Cathy, our friend who works there and Dr. Nanci both said they were just about to walk out the door when we called. They had just been hanging around talking.

Whew...it was a miracle day for sure. There were lots of other moments too. Bridget and Cindy got Bryan and I presents for our anniversary and gave them to us in the Wal-Mart parking lot. People must have wondered what the heck was going on. (not that I cared of course)

As I can I will add to the list of magic that happened.
See yas!

Hello all!  Miracles happen every day ~ you just have to watch for them!

Sunday night Bryan said out of the blue, "Let's go for a walk!  I feel like taking a walk."

(We have not walked all summer.)  So Bryan and I take the two "big" dogs, Charity and Libby and we go for a walk.  As we pass Joe's Pizza, Danielle (yes, Danielle of the Northern McMillans) comes running out and gives Bryan and I a hug.  As she is hugging me, I see Kathy come out of Joe's also.

It was a surreal moment, fer sure!  We had a nice talk and they promised to stop by before leaving town today.

Just think, if Bryan and I had not gone for that walk, we might not have seen them....

yello peeps!

It is FRIDAY and things are going well.  So far, so good anyway.  Blackberry pickin' awaits!  I hate that I seem to be struggling to find the "magic" everyday.  It didn't used to be so hard.  Now there is like this big "pressure".  Not to find the magic, but just PRESSURE.  I never seem to have enough time.  I know everyone gets the same 24 hours ...yadda yadda yadda, but when you are being pulled in 4 different directions something has to break.

So this weekend, my PLAN is to spend some time figuring out why every day it seems I look at the clock and think, "Ten o'clock?  What happened the day?  I just sat down to relax!"

School will be starting soon, but right behind that is Taxes and Christmas.  My other stess season.  Last year was not bad.  The living room and decorations looked terrible, but I was not as stressed as other years. I just try to do to much, we buy too many ornaments and again, we run out of time.

Michele...if you are reading this I am sending you a magical weekend, just for you.  You will have well-behaved children, and understanding and forgiving and helpful husband, 10 hours of sleep and a clean house!

Danielle...if you are reading this I need to hear from you!  I feel abandoned by my own sister!!!  (sniff)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Ahh... baseball.

I don't know where my fondness for the game came from.  My dad used to watch the games (well, nap during them) on the weekends, but he wasn't what I would call a big baseball fan.  In high school, I started watching the Cardinals play because I thought Tommy Herr was cute ~ it expanded from there.  I was never a Cubs fan like my friend Michele.  "...and it's root, root, root for the Scubbies. If they don't win its the SAME!..."

You get the picture.  (sorry, Chele )

the smell of popcorn and hotdogs
the beer man yelling from 3 sections away
the crack of the bat and roar of the crowd
watching the mascot make fun of the other team
trying to figure out what pitches the pitcher is using
homeruns
autographs
the "chicken" dance

Next Tuesday should be fun as well.
See ya!

Hi all!

Not a lot to report.  I am eagerly anticipating tomorrow ~  I leave work at 11:30.  I have accomplished much today which is AMAZING for a Monday morning.  I still have lots to do, but I am taking 5.

I have not heard from Danielle OR Michele ~  shame on you two!  I will try to email them today to remind them that they have a job to do and that job is to entertain ME!!!!  (who else are we talking about here?)

Let's see... I took a test from "TWIST" magazine.  My celebrity match is Orlando Bloom ~  can I pick them or what?  I wore my "Legolas" tee shirt to Church camp last Wednesday night (simply because it is a nice thin material and I was afraid I would be hot)  Thirteen girls commented directly to me about it (all within the age range of 9-13).  It was funny.  My shirt was definitely a hit!

Something magical ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I didn't write about the awesome fireworks that I witnessed over the 4th of July.  (or did I? anyway...)

Fireworks have always been important to my friends and I (mainly because they were fun!)  Michele, Barb and I would cheer for all the green fireworks (green = pickle!) Besides that, I met my last boyfriend before going away to college at the fireworks and I figured if he could stand my friends and I at our zaniest he was ok.  (That was Richie Gable, by the way).

So now, my family and I go to see the fireworks.  My kids know no matter what we are doing on the 4th - we had better see the fireworks!  Now they enjoy them as much as I do (and we all yell for our favorites!)

Maybe for my 50th birthday (which is a LONG LONG way away!) we can have some fireworks for me.  That would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay...yes...i am bored.

Recovering Procrastinator...

yep!  That's me!  Actually I don't even think I should be using the term "recovering" any more.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have been trying to find something "magic" to write about...but I have failed.  In my current state of perpetual unhappiness with everything I don't think I would even notice.
I do remember being mesmerized when I was little by colors and how light affected the way a color looked.  I still have coloring books from when I was really little (about 4 or 5) and you can tell I had begun to shade.  Hair, clothing, grass etc.
I remember staring at puddles of water watching the sunlight hit and change colors.  And bubbles!  Remember the color of bubbles?  I loved playing with bubbles.  I also like to watch my reflection in the car window as we traveled down the road.  I still do that sometimes.  Try it - if the sun is right your hand and arm will look short and squat and really funny.  WARNING:  Do NOT try it while you are driving!!!!  Thank you.
Well, I have a full day ahead of me (sigh) and an even fuller weekend.  (fuller?  is that a word?)
Ugh. I am so discouraged.
Discouraged with work, home and my health...actually nothing seems to be going right. No matter what I do or try things just get worse.
...and there seems to be no end in sight!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay. Enough of the pity party. This weekend should be a good one for the Humane Society. A cookout is going to be held at a local grocery store. All the proceeds will go to the Humane Society. We will be there handling the dogs. The McMillan Dog Handlers.

I can't think of anything "magical" that has happened which is EXTREMELY SAD!!! Skyler continues to be a great source of joy for me. He reminds me of my chocolate poodle, Jeremiah, who I miss every day.

Whoa! What happened? I was blogging away just fine there for a while and then

POW!

it was today!

I bought a really magical (I think it's magical anyway) butterfly made out of metal and shiny rocks. It has a small gazing ball in the metal part that sticks into the ground. I love it! I want more! $1.99!!!

My mind is racing...so much has happened...

I don't own a waterbed anymore. Let's just leave it at that. That night was not fun. (Why is it that whenever something BAD happens to a person, there is always something (like a lightening storm) to make it worse?)

sheesh.

Bridget has short hair now. Cindy is at camp (boo hoo! my BABY is gone from home for a whole week. (Bridget will roll her eyes when she reads THAT!)

I must dash!

Ahhhh....
It's so quiet here...

But I know it won't last. It is 20 til 8:00 in the office. Soon the hoardes will come rushing in - trying to beat the 8:00am deadline. The coffee pot and toilets will be at their busiest.

7:45, right on schedule, the phone begins to ring.

THANK GOD I HAVE TOMORROW OFF! I plan on:

~sleeping in
~taking Penny to the vet
~putting stuff away in my new cabinet
~listening to the records I have recently purchased (yes, records!)
~watch "The Patriot" and "Independence Day"

I think that is enought to cram in one day.

Happy 4th of July
