funny that in the "What Christmas Character are You?" test results (go a few entries down...) I was "Charlie Brown". Let's list the similarities:

-thinning hair
-chubby
-wears a lot of yellow
-constantly let down by others
-best friend and family member is a dog
-the dog is a Beagle!
-loves a sparce looking tree
-talks to himself
-needs a psychiatrist

Maybe I will change my name to "Charlie" starting today...

Christmas is over and I am relieved.

My only stress that is Christmas related is: 1. JD has a visit with his birth family on the 27th. I am NOT looking forward to that! He comes back moody, uncooperative, and just not himself. I am dreading to see what he comes home with. Weapons, drugs and alcohol are my first 3 guesses of gift choices from the “posse”.

Now I have to take down all the Christmas stuff that I put up. (sigh). Maybe I can talk Bryan into doing it. (Although he did it last year and I couldn’t find anything to put out this year which added to my stress!)

I took a test (and flunked) recently to find out if I was depressed. I have ALL the symptoms. ALL. Every last one.

Things I am happy about:

Thurman
Javarius (“frinkles”)
My review (also a little disappointed but overall happy)
My prospective 2008 at work! Better at everything! Tier 2?
Skyler
The van

OK so there’s not much on my list I am happy about right now. And I even had to stretch it a little and add the “van”.

Hey! I will take what I can get at this point.

Some highlighted presents include: sewing machine from the family (yes I asked for one!), Gryffindor sweatshirt, ruby earring/necklace and ring combo set and a hand painted ornament from JD. He was so excited and fun to watch. Hopefully I took plenty of pictures.

RESOLUTIONS FOR 2008

Lose Weight/Increase Fitness
See or keep in touch with family
Get out of debt
Get organized
Learn something new
De-Stress
Plan Ahead

THURMAN!

Everyone please welcome him to our family.

(sigh) I just CANNOT get in the Christmas spirit this year...and that is VERY odd because I am usually Ms. Christmas. I usually decorate the house with 2 trees, lighted garland everywhere, my favorite antique ornaments, santas, reindeer etc everywhere. I think if our foster child was not here this year the tree would still be in the attic.

As it stands it is now 8 am on Christmas Eve and I have wrapped 2 packages. I do NOT want to do it. Bridget and Cindy wrapped their stuff they purchased last night. I tossed around the idea of just tossing out the presents Christmas morning with tags on them for who they were to but the girls hurt look on their faces told me I might want to reconsider.

(sigh) again.

So here I sit blogging. hahaha

I don't know why this year is different. It is going to be great watching our 4 year old open presents, help bake the birthday cake for Jesus etc. I have been off my medication ( not anything for schizophrenia or anything like that thank YOU!) and I now wonder if that is part of it.

I guess I had better get off my butt.

Yes, yes, yes. I took the test on GoldenCompass.com or some other site like that. I wanted to see what all the "hoopla" was about.

dae·mon (dē'm-an) n.
Chiefly British Variant of demon.
Variant of daimon.
1. Classical Mythology.
a. a god.
b. a subordinate deity, as the genius of a place or a person's attendant spirit.
2. a demon.
3. Computer Science : A program or process that sits idly in the background until it is invoked to perform its task.

MY person Daemon according to the website is Lutheus. That reveals that I am "modest, inquisitive, a leader, spontaneous and fickle." You are therefore matched with the cat daemon.

Which doesn't tell me a whole heck of a lot but I thought it was quite the coincidence that the cat looks just like my cat, Mr. Mistofolees.

Fine! I thought this whole thing would have died down by now...but apparently not. Everything I have read and seen clearly shows that yes, Senator Barack Obama did NOT put his hand over his heart during the singing of the National Anthem. For more info...

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp

He has also autographed a miniature flag. Does this mean he is un-patriotic? Possibly. In my opinion, not standing when an American Flag goes past you (like in a parade), not removing your cap OR not saluting (or placing your hand over your heart) means that either you ARE unpatriotic or you were just simply not raised right.

I have not been in the military, but my father fought in the latter part of World War II and in the Korean War. It is my personal opinion that if I fail to do any of these things, not only do I fail to respect my country, but I fail to respect him as well.

And I will not do that.

I have taught my children how to behave at parades, ballgames etc. It doesn't matter if no one else covers their heart. What matters is that YOU do.

Obama is a public figure running for political office and frankly, should have known better.

Enough!

Walking thru the living room last night before bed, Bryan was watching "Resident Evil: Apocolypse". I have seen the first one and had seen the same part of this movie (about 5 minutes in all).

So later that night... i am asleep.............. and I have a dream which wakes me up. I am at work and something is chasing me. I ran thru the foyer (where the bathrooms are) and narrowly escape what is chasing me. They are zombies!Someone is dead, slouched in the corner and they are being munched on. I tore open the door and there was Julia, in her cube...panicking. I grabbed her sweater sleeve and we ran. We ended up in some small storage room and we decided that propping a big piece of foam against the locked door and leaning against it would be safe. So we sat there....... and we fell asleep.

We were awakened by a voice over the intercom system stating that "any 'live' ones that would like to come to 'the farm' can meet him at the south entrance and we can go to safety."

We realized that the voice was C K (the owner) so we made our way out of our hiding place quietly. I picked up a baseball bat along the way somehow. Julia picked up a golf club.... I won't be gory but we had to use them to make it.

We made it to the doors and we saw our ride to safety. There were about 15-20 people all crowded around a tractor with CK sitting on it. The tractor had a hay rack (with hay!) behind it. (reminded me of the movie "Tremors") I woke up when we were being chased to the hay rack......................

I Can Only Imagine...

It was one of those evenings that I like to have time to blog about. My husband, my foster son and I were in the van on our way home from more errands. It was dark, J was tired and all I wanted was to lay in bed and vegitate. B turned on the radio and we all instantly recognized the song...it was "I Can Only Imagine" by MercyMe on our local radio station. After it sank in, B & I heard even J exclaim, "Hey! This is our church song!"

And we all sang.

I could even hear J singing. Well singing what he could, but it was great anyway.

One of those "succulent" moments SARK writes about (www.planetsark.com)

Ah. That's better.

I know that being a Christian and reading things concerning horoscopes is a sin. But I am always drawn to how right they are. I don't mean that I read what my horoscope will be that day and totally make it happen by the choices I make. I mean when I read articles about how all Scorpios or Leos or whatever are alike. Usually these articles all have a list or lists of character traits. What amazes me is how much those are really true. Now they are true of me, but not of my husband who is a Capricorn, or of my Gemini or Capricorn daughter.

Here are some of my latest findings about my Scorpio self:

  • Controlled, cool exterior
  • Deeply intense, passionate, penetrating, and determined.
  • This sign will probe until they reach the truth.
  • May not speak volumes or show their emotions readily
  • Enormous amount of activity happening beneath the surface
  • Excellent leaders, the Scorpion is always aware
  • Resourceful
  • Sincerity and truth a must among friends.
  • Can take some time before really close bonds are formed, but once done, the Scorpion will remain dedicated and loyal.
  • Witty and intellectual, Scorpions prefer companions who are humorous and easygoing
  • Full of surprises, this sign will give you the shirt off their backs if that's what you need; yet, once they are crossed, there's no turning back
  • They feel deeply, and once hurt, it can be impossible to turn things around.
  • Commitment to family is strong and consistent with the Scorpion.
  • Exceptionally helpful in managing affairs, and they are excellent advocates when one is needed.
  • "I desire" is the key phrase for the Scorpion.
  • Fantastic at managing, solving, or creating.
  • Once the Scorpion sets their sights on a goal, there's no deterring this sign
  • Tasks that require a scientific, penetrating approach are always best
  • Strong ability to focus
  • Determination and strong management skills.
  • Not ones to worry about making friends on the job scene; rather, they prefer to see the task accomplished well
  • Careers as a scientist, doctor, investigator, navigator, detective, researcher, police officer, business manager, and psychologist all suit the mighty Scorpion.
  • Respect is an essential aspect of working for this sign. They need to respect their coworkers, while also feeling a sense of being respected by others
  • Disciplined enough to stick to a budget and unafraid of working as hard and as long as it takes puts the Scorpion in a good financial position.
  • Money means security and a sense of control, which is important to the Scorpion.
  • Incredibly passionate, the Scorpion takes intimacy seriously.
  • Partners need to be intelligent and honest. Much of the foreplay for this sign happens long before the bedroom through conversation and observation. Once in love, they are devoted and loyal to the death. But relationships can take some time. The Scorpion needs to build trust and respect for a potential mate slowly and thoroughly
  • The colors of choice for Scorpio are dark red to maroon.
  • Scorpio's star stone is the opal.
  • Scorpio's lucky numbers are 2, 7, and 9.
  • Compatibility - Scorpions are most compatible with Pisces and Cancer.
  • Opposite sign of Scorpio is Taurus
  • Best gifts for a Scorpio are sentimental choices, clothing (especially something sexy), and non-fiction books.
  • Likes: Truth, facts, flirtation, long-time friends
  • Dislikes: The superficial, flattery, shallow people, being taken advantage of
  • Natural sign of the Eighth House. This house focuses on sex, taxes, death and rebirth, a partner's resources, inheritance, and regeneration
  • Famous Scorpios: Carl Sagan, Jodie Foster, Indira Gandhi, Prince Charles and Grace Kelly

Still adjusting here to our loss of Penny. It has been hard. We had another loss recently..."blucah" (our blue geo prism with 190,000+ miles) died on the way home from Bryan's work. That car will be sorely missed. We purchased it in 1991 right after we were married and we have driven it ever since. When we traded it in for our new vehicle (Oh no! Another car payment!!!) I couldn't even go to help Bryan clean it out. I knew I would start crying and not stop.

Yeah. Sad.

I know.

Yes, Penny is gone from our home but not gone from our hearts.

It is amazing the times that is hits me that she is gone: eating cereal - because I always had to share, or when I was in the tub because she always came in to visit and scratch her chin on the bathroom rug...

I am sure more posts will be forthcoming.

Please keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers.
Thanks,
Reen

Just took this test with interesting results...

If all of the desserts listed below were sitting in front of you, which would you choose? (you can only pick one!) Pick your dessert, then look to see what psychiatrists think about you.

Here are your choices:

1. Angel Food Cake

2. Brownies

3. Lemon Meringue Pie

4. Vanilla cake with Chocolate Icing

5. Strawberry Short Cake

6. Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Frosting

7. Ice Cream

8. Carrot Cake

OK - Now that you've made your choice this is what research says about you...

1. ANGEL FOOD CAKE -- Sweet, loving, cuddly. You love all warm and fuzzy items. A little nutty at times. Sometimes you need an ice cream cone at the end of the day. Others perceive you as being childlike and immature at times.

2. BROWNIES -- You are adventurous, love new ideas, are a champion of underdogs and a slayer of dragons. When tempers flare up you whip out your saber. You are always the oddball with a unique sense of humor & direction. You tend to be very loyal.

3. LEMON MERINGUE --Smooth, sexy, & articulate with your hands, you are an excellent after-dinner speaker and a good teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum at the same time. A bit of a diva at times, but you have many friends.

4. VANILLA CAKE WITH CHOCOLATE ICING -- Fun-loving, sassy, humorous, not very grounded in life; very indecisive and lack motivation. Everyone enjoys being around you, but you are a practical joker. Others should be cautious in making you mad. However, you are a friend for life.

5. STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE -- Romantic, warm, loving. You care about other people, can be counted on in a pinch and expect the same in return. Intuitively keen. Can be very emotional.

6. CHOCOLATE ON CHOCOLATE -- Sexy; always ready to give and receive. Very creative, adventurous, ambitious, and passionate. You can appear to have a cold exterior but are warm on the inside. Not afraid to take chances. Will not settle for anything average in life. Love to laugh.

7. ICE CREAM -- You like sports, whether it be baseball, football, basketball, or soccer. If you could, you would like to participate, but you enjoy watching sports. You don't like to gve up the remote control. You tend to be self-centered and high maintenance.

8. CARROT CAKE -- You are a very fun loving person, who likes to laugh. You are fun to be with. People like to hang out with you. You are a very warm hearted person and a little quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.

FYI: I picked 'chocolate cake with chocolate frosting' and Bryan picked 'lemon meringue pie'!

I don't know if I will survive Cindy's 4 years of HS or not. If you don't hear from me...I didn't. The graduations were nice. Hot, as usual. (What graduations aren't?) You know it's hot when it's 85 degrees outside and THAT felt cooler than sitting in the gym. (don't get me started on the HS gym)

Well, dear readers, as if you haven't noticed...but I have not been blogging lately. Time is just nonexistent in my world. Now I am facing the graduation of my senior child, the 8th grade graduation of my youngest and possibly life with another child.

What was I thinking? Obviously my mental capacity has been severely diminished!
It's the brain damage!!

So I finally figured out that I have just not been keeping my eyes open for "bloggable" stuff.
For instance, my hubby and I were at the "Generic America" Wal-Mart store last night. We both noticed the feminine man in front of us - but that is not what is so funny. He was buying - not one! not two! but about 18 cucumbers.
That was it.
Cucumbers.
Two entire bags full of cucumbers.
Now what really made it funny was his actions. I mentioned he was a little on the girly-acting side - which is ok, but when he saw that we noticed what he was purchasing - he grabbed his change from the cashier and made a Queen-Beeline out of there!
So I have to start keeping my eyes open!
I need stuff to BLOG about!
Ciao!

Many things happening dear readers, and so little to blog about it.

Penny and Skyler have been sick recently. So sick, in fact, that we had some vet bills with it. BUT things are looking better now and no one else seems to be getting sick. All humans are healthy with the exception of Bridget's eye which is bothering her again.

Cindy just reminded me that when her friend, Nicole spent the night Friday night, Charity our coon hound decided she was going to play with Nicole. The only problem was, Nicole didn't know this. Charity was barking and barking and Nicole didn't know why! So Charity, getting frustrated jumped on the bed to "show" Nicole "Hey! THIS is what we are supposed to be doing!"

Well it was funny anyway.

Carla - you remember Carla? She just rec'd 10 red roses for her 10 month anniversary with her soon-to-be hubby. That made us remember when Bryan last sent me roses - it was for my last birthday when we both worked at HMI. The roses were so powerful smelling they made us keep our office door open - which of course we never ever ever did. And...the bouquet was so large that we had to keep moving it around because we couldn't see each other when we talked. I have never seen a larger bouquet of flowers! They were beautiful and lasted for about 1 1/2 months.

Well I have to run....again.

Yes - it is 6 a.m. What am I doing up this early on my day off? (Let alone on the computer posting a blog?) The answer is...I don't know. I am getting to be like my Grandma Edith (I miss you, Gramma!) she could never sleep in past 6. Ugh!

Anyway, it's still dark out and I was a nice mom and took Skyler and Charity out for their early a.m. potty (You're welcome, Cindy!). We came back in and Skyler had to go back out immediately again. You can imagine why. So I bundled up this time - I was unprepared for the cold the first time and took him out....again.

He sniffed.

And sniffed...

...and sniffed....

Then I realized this was probably one of those moments in which I am supposed to enjoy. So I looked up at the sky. It was amazingly clear and all the stars were shining. It's been a long time since I saw that. I am sure they have been there...I have just not taken the time to look up!

Skyler was STILL sniffing (He's a beagle boy so it takes him a while). I then noticed the dew on the grass mirrored the sparkles I saw in the sky.

I need to remember to take time to look around me more often. I get so wrapped up in stupid stuff that I don't notice the things God puts right in front of our noses to enjoy.

For instance, yesterday I walked into my bedroom to get some socks and finish getting ready to go to work. Most mornings are the same routine. I took a second to look at Skyler who was curled up on my pillows with his head resting on my teddy bear, Grimsey. It was so cute! He looked so comfortable I wanted to curl up with him!
Here is a pic of the little nipper from last Christmas.
I haven't downloaded 06 images yet. That's on my "to-do" list of "not dones".
Well, I am gonna dash. Bryan will be up soon and Libby and Penny will need to go out. Is that all I do? Help my pets go potty?
